“There are plenty of analog synth fetishists out there, but Rose Haze understands better than most how to effectively create an atmosphere. Rich, pillowy chords glow in shades of violet and maroon, lovely but just a little tense; elsewhere, bloopy synth patterns doodle and chirp, combining optimism and unease like Kraftwerk and Boards of Canada before them.”

Slow Decay

Single - April 14, 2023

This thing is a juggernaut, a slow-burn epic that’s at this weird intersection of shoegaze, dream pop and the funereal atmosphere of doom.

Contemplations in the desert

LP - December 2, 2022

via Orenda Records

Musically, the album brings to mind an Ennio Morricone (there is even a track named after the famous composer) score that is both otherworldly in a spaced out way and also weirdly Californian. There are longer compositions that drift into sparse sonic soundscapes and urge the listener to dissociate while others are meandering and dark. There are elements of psych rock, prog and desert groove all coming together with a uniquely experimental edge. Tying it all together and making it truly impressive is the fact that this album is fully improvised.

MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISM

LP - May 6, 2022

This set is chockful of Florence Welch’s post-disco energy, Roky Erickson’s unrestrained experimentation, Jefferson Airplane-esque mind-twisting, and all the raw dream and bedroom pop one could grasp are interwoven into the fabric of this cohesively wandering album.
